The Gist family had been farming for three generations before Richard “Butch” Gist took his turn at the helm. Through his foresight and creativity, he grew the operation into the diverse, successful company Gist Farms is today.

This year the company proudly celebrates 140 years of contributions to the agricultural industry of California making Gist Farms a special part of our local history.

Since Butch's passing in 2024 his wife, Clare, and longtime friend and business partner, Marvin Davis, have been Growing the Legacy by continuing to provide quality solutions and workmanship to meet the immediate needs of their customers.

DECADES OF INNOVATION

 As far back as the 1970s, Butch Gist was inventing equipment to fix real-world challenges on the farm and in the field. Whenever there was a problem, he built the solution.

Some of his notable inventions included the Bead Up, changing the industry on how truck tires were inflated, the pressure seal walking floor manufactured by Keith, and the KOL TANK, a system to cool hydraulic fluid while trailers are unloading.
